Beach, plenty of sunshine to fill a Vitamin D void in my life, good eats and some history. That’s pretty much my ideal vacation and I got to live it out last month in the Palmetto state of South Carolina.
I’ve always loved being around water, so I had pretty high expectations as we left for a week on Hilton Head Island. During our week away, we got a great mix of learning about the history of the area, exploring Savannah and Charleston, and eating delicious food. Who knew hush puppies could be so delicious?! And, don’t even get me started on the seafood!
I also loved having the opportunity to take maternity photos of Anna and Chad while we were in Charleston. If you haven’t seen that post yet, check it out right here.
The first thing I wanted to do when we arrived was to see the ocean. Before picking up groceries and other odds and ends, we did exactly that. We visited a few plantations (talk about beautiful oak trees), drank sweet tea and had our share of beach time, too.
It’s hard to go far in South Carolina without seeing the state flag.
